How to Apply

Making an Application for Reception Year - September 2025

  • Making an Application for Reception Year - September 2025

  • Applications can be made online from Tuesday 5th November up to Wednesday 15th January 2025 deadline – it makes no difference if you apply early or late.

  • You are able to state 3 preferences and it is in your best interests to do so. Naming only one school does not increase your chance of being allocated that school, equally adding a 2nd and 3rd preference does not decrease your chance of getting your 1st preference. Schools are not told how they are ranked or your other preferences.

  • If you wish to apply for a place for your child at Herne Infants, please select Herne CE Infant & Nursery School (DfE No 886 3295) as your first choice.

  • If you already have a child who will be attending Herne Infants or Herne Junior School in September 2025 please make sure their sibling details are shown on the form.

  • Evidence supporting applications made under the Health and Special Access criteria must be provided to the school at the time of application.

  • Please take care in completing the form and ensure that all relevant information is given. You can makes changes to your applications at any time before the deadline.

  • Applications must be submitted before the 15th January 2025 deadline.

  • National Offer Day Wednesday 16th April 2025: you will receive an email after 4pm telling you which school your child has been offered; you can also log in to your account after 5.00pm to view your offer online. Please ensure you read all of the email as it will contain important information about what to do next.

  • Please be aware that, once your child has been offered a place, you will be required to provide evidence of address for both yourself and your child.  This should be in the form of a recent Council Tax Statement or Lease Agreement AND a Utility Bill, Bank or Credit Card Statement, showing applicant’s name and address, together with Child Benefit, Tax Credit, GP/Hospital Letter, or Bank Statement, showing your child’s name and address. These should be dated around the time of the application deadline (January 15th).  Please remember to save any documents that you may require.

  • Applications should be made online and further information regarding Admissions can be found on our website and also at www.kent.gov.uk/primaryadmissions.

  • If you have any queries, or need any help completing the forms, please contact the school office, 01227 740793, and we will try to advise you accordingly.
