Term 1 & 2

Highlights of our very first term together

  • Welcoming our teacher and teaching assistant into our homes

  • Learning names of our peers and adults

  • Playing friendship games together

  • Creating artwork for our early years environment

  • Finding out where things go and how to be super tidy uppers!

  • Having school lunch in the hall

  • Attending Worship at school and at our local church-St. Martins at Herne

  • Learning many letter sounds and letter names

  • Counting, writing and recognising numbers up to 20

  • Looking at common 2D shapes

  • Taking part in whole school Harvest Festival

  • Visiting the local woods to explore seasonal changes and the things we can do there

  • Going to the Wildlife Area and HIVE within our school grounds

Highlights of Term 2

  • Visiting places in our outdoor environment to find further signs of Autumn and upcoming Winter

  • Learning more letter sounds and some tricky words

  • Learning some more Writedance movements to help us with our coordination and gross motor skills

  • Developing our handwriting patterns to help us prepare for writing in cursive

  • Continuing our counting skills

  • Looking at 3D solid shapes

  • Creating a hall board based on our topic of ‘’Around the World with Paddington’

  • Finding about Bonfire night and family traditions

  • Creating our own firework display using our bodies, ribbons, pompoms and music

  • Exploring healthy eating and looking at fruit and vegetables including pumpkins

  • Receiving a phone call from Father Christmas and writing him Christmas letters

  • Creating Christmas arts and crafts

  • Watching the staff Christmas panto-oh yes we did!

  • Performing a Christmas Nativity play to the school and our families

  • Raising money for charities including Children in Need and Christmas Jumper Day

  • Having a Christmas party day on the last day of term
