Children at Herne have enjoyed attending different events with other local schools.

Kent College Runs

We had 7 children attend the Kent College run on Saturday 15th September. All children ran with lots of enthusiasm and did very well. Well done to all involved!

KS1 Basketball Festival

8 children from Year 2 enjoyed spending the afternoon at Herne Bay High developing their basketball skills.

“I learnt how to dribble the ball and aim at a target.”

Year 2 Tag Rugby Festival

During Term 1 Miss Richards ran a Tag Rugby after school club. 6 children who attended this club were chosen to represent the school at the event on 16th October at Whitstable Rugby Club.

“I liked working as a team to score a winning try.”

A group of Year 2 children learnt a new ‘Wake Up Shake Up’ routine which they performed to parents, friends, teachers and Mrs Small from the Herne Bay Partnership.

Speed stacking

At the end of Term 3, 8 children from Year 2 went and represented the school at Herne Bay High and took part in a speed stacking competition! Our teams came 3rd and 5th. Well done to all who took part!

“We had to work as a team when we did the relay speed stacking. We also had to speed stack with our partners.”

Infant Agility

In March this year 10 children visited Herne Bay High to take part in the Infant Agility competition.

“I liked the activity where we had to throw the ball. My favourite part was working as a team in the running race.”

Primary Performing Arts Festival

Recently, a group of children from Year Two visited Herne Bay High School to take part in the annual Primary Performing Arts Festival along with children from seven other schools.

Our children were among the youngest there and following weeks of hard work and practise, gave a truly outstanding performance in front of a packed audience.

We are very proud of them – well done everyone!

Gymnastics key steps

In May two teams attended the Gymnastics Key steps inter-schools competition. The children had to learn two floor routines from memory and also had to take part on vault. The Year 2 teams did very well and came 3rd and 4th out of 12 teams! Well done!

“I liked jumping on the spring board. We had to land really carefully.”

8 children represented the school when competing in the Athletics competition. The children participated in a 50m race, a 300m race, standing long jump and howler throwing. Well done to all!

At the end of the year, children from Year 1 enjoyed attending the ‘Infant Games’.

“We had so much fun. The best part was tennis”

“I loved going on the trampolines and playing hockey”
