This is a short term so the clubs are not being run for quite so long although they have proved to be just as popular as ever.
Premier Sport are organising a fencing club which has appealed to many children in the past. Mr James is an excellent coach who helps the children to get the helmet and jacket on then takes them through each step of the rules and skills so that by the end of the sessions they are quite proficient.
Bob Bolder from Charlton Athletic Community Trust is running a dodgeball club which is great fun and very energetic! He also continues with the football club in the hall due to the dark, cold weather. This is a challenge when it comes to matches but the children quickly adapt to the limited space.
Mrs Beech loves our Speedstacking club so much that she is continuing and we hope to invite other schools to us for a little competition later in the year.
The basketball sessions at Herne Bay High School have continued although again not many children have taken up the offer of free places. Mr Steele (former Director of Sport at HBH) is a brilliant coach and the children make great progress.
Mrs March offered to run a New Age Kurling club. This is a sport that we teach during curriculum lessons and is so popular that the children asked if we could run it as a club. The ‘stones’ are on wheels but the rules are similar to curling and the children are getting very skilful!
