Clubs

Term 1

The after school sports clubs have begun again and this term cricket and football are being led by Bob Bolder from Charlton Athletic Community Club. Bob has been coaching at Herne Infants for more than 17 years and is an inspiring sports coach. The children respond very well to his fun, strict but fair approach to the sessions. Once again the clubs have been oversubscribed which proves their popularity and the enthusiasm of our children and parents to support a healthy lifestyle.

Our very own home-grown Speedstacking coach is kindly giving up her time again this year to lead our club. Mrs Beach and the children enjoy having fun while learning the fundamentals of the game. Year 1 and Year 2 children support each other practising all the skills in preparation for some mini-games and in term 2 we will entering an inter-school competition.

The basketball sessions at Herne Bay High School have begun again and we are using the Sports Funding to provide places for our Year 2 children. Mr Steele (former Director of Sport at HBH) is a brilliant coach and the children make great progress.

Gymnastics is always very popular and Premier Sport have once again provided Mr James to coach the children to develop coordination, balance and a skill.

Mrs March has begun the healthy eating club for Year 2 children who gain so much knowledge and skill during the sessions. The smells coming from Class 7 are irresistible at times! From smoothies to fruit sticks and chocolate cakes (we all need a treat every so often!) the children are encouraged to be as independent as possible in order to develop those all-important life skills.

Term 2

The after school sports clubs have been very successful again and this term basketball and football are being led by Bob Bolder from Charlton Athletic Community Club. Bob continues to be an inspiring sports coach. The children respond very well to his firm but fair approach, developing their skills and enjoying a very active session each week .

Mrs Beech loves our Speedstacking club and this term some of the children will be entering a competition at HBH School. The children enjoy having fun while learning the fundamentals of the game. Year 1 and Year 2 children support each other practising all the skills in preparation for timed mini-games.

The basketball sessions at Herne Bay High School have continued although not many children have taken up the offer of free places. Mr Steele (former Director of Sport at HBH) is a brilliant coach and the children make great progress.

Gymnastics was so popular in Term 1 that the children on the waiting list are now able to enjoy the weekly session with Mr James who provides challenging but fun activities for the children to develop coordination, balance and a skill.

Mrs March once again is running the healthy eating club for Year 2 children who gain so much knowledge and skill during the sessions. The smoothies and fruit salads are very tempting alongside chocolate cakes (we all need a treat every so often!). The children are encouraged to be as independent as possible in order to develop those all-important life skills.

An additional club this term is the free dance mats club at HBH School. Unfortunately has not attracted as many children as they can cater for but those who are going are having a great time.
